The day when Nothing means everything - World Meditation Day May 21, 2025
From our serene special correspondent for internal affairs
May 9, 2025 – Hold still, dear ones, for something is brewing. Very calmly, of course. On May 21, it’s that time again: World Meditation Day is approaching – that rare holiday where sitting around is not just tolerated, but officially celebrated.
The world is preparing – quietly, slowly, taking deep breaths. The first cafes are already reporting increased pre-orders for "All-in-One" sandwiches. No joke. Spiritual gastronomy is booming – but in a completely relaxed way.
While some sign up for marathons or loudly optimize their careers, we are getting ready for the great Sitting Revolution. Because on May 21, the rule is: whoever stays seated, wins. No appointments, no overstimulation – just you and the now. (And maybe a meditation stool, but that's just by the way.)
What makes this day so special? Well, it wasn't ordained by the UN, but – as befits true wisdom – emerged from silence itself. No advertising budget, no celebrity endorsement. Just a collective longing: to briefly step off the carousel and remember that doing nothing is also a form of empowerment.
Because yes: meditation is not escape. It is resistance – against the compulsion to constantly achieve something. It is the silent nod in a world that constantly screams. A rebellion through stillness.
So – what can you do on May 21?
Nothing. And that's exactly the task. Maybe a few minutes. Maybe an hour. Maybe an entire day that feels like a quiet walk through your own inner self.
Make yourself happy
Just set a timer to "Eternity" and sit there. Breathe. Be. And if someone asks what you're doing, say: "I am one with everything – even the sofa."
See you – or not, as the case may be. On May 21, somewhere between inhaling and exhaling.
Namaste and until then: Stay loosely seated.
